What type of SSL certificate require documents and what documents are to be provided before the SSL is activated?

The types of SSL certificates that require documentation are the Extended Validation and the Organisational Validation SSL certificate.

To validate these certificates, you are required to provide the following:

  • Certificate of Incorporation CAC

  • Memorandum and articles of association

  • Government issued ID of the applicant (international passport or driver’s license only, front and rear view).

  • A formal letter from the company (using the company's letter headed paper) stating that the applicant is authorized to acquire EV/OV SSL certificate on behalf of the company - this is required when the applicant is NOT one of the directors.

  • The Authorization letter should include the purpose of the Business verification and the subject should include that as well

  • An alternative is for the applicant to provide a letter of employment from the company.

  • A page on the site that shows the position of the Director who signed the letter.

  • In the absence of this, an online media report or LinkedIn profile of the person who signed can be accepted.
